The seed of prosperity

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed no hope at all”

-Dale Carnegie

I invite you to take a peak into my growth mindset.

Before you continue on, a song that best represents my mindset is seen below so take a listen.

I am an introspective person, meaning I look within my own self quite frequently. So, the very idea or concept of a growth mindset wasn’t new to me, in fact- in Tony Robbins Book- Awaken the Giant within- speaks about this concept in great detail. When the personal development and employment class commenced, I was thrilled to share the knowledge I have learnt through introspection and I thought I was going to be the main teacher of the class as my knowledge was so vast. Indeed, I got the opportunity to share but a concept that I never introspected upon intensely was introduced; Growth Mindset and Fixed Mindset. I wasted no energy and immediately yelled- I’M A GROWTH MINDSET PERSON. This was however false because in reality we are subjected to both.

In an article provided by Liverpool John Moore University, described the experience and knowledge of Carol Dweck: A Summary of Growth and Fixed Mindsets written by Philosophy the author. In which she projected this image which perfectly describes the two mindsets’ humans encounter on a day-to-day basis.

Apart from being totally mind blown with the above article I was shown yet another interesting video about Neuroplasticity. Now in this video the team at Sentis, deconstruct the question: Why is the human mind the most important performance tool? Its truly a wander to see how the human mind works and how scientists prove time and time again the sheer complexity that is the human mind.

Go on and grab your favorite beverage (mine is a hot cup of tea) and enjoy some fresh air, because the next bit of this blog is going to teleport you to another world!

I am so pumped and ready to discuss with you the power of- “NOT YET”. I have grown up in an education system where if you don’t do well academically you get a FAIL. Relatable? In the same article discussed above with Carol Dweck she discussed about a study in which she surveyed 10-year-old to understand their mindsets.

Some to her surprise loved challenges and some who failed said to her, I quote- “I will cheat the next time I take the test”.

I leave you with a note to my future self- When faced with challenges or “failures” in life always repeat these words- not yet; not yet; not yet…
